Acoustic Research was one of the top makes in the mid 70s that introduced hi fidelity sound to hundreds of thousands… In the States they had over 30% of the market! The AR-4xa included the excellent new 1 1/4 tweeter to their successful AR4 range, to pair with the 8 main drive. These speakers have been subject to a comprehensive renovation carried out by the excellent Nick Hampson – now my business partner in Vintage Speakers Restorations. So Nick has taken the main units out and checked they are accurately aligned and has renewed the internal electronics in the crossover units with fine quality new capacitors and checked all other components are in spec and connected the right way round yes he found manufacturing faults in the past! The cabinets have been polished up and are looking very good as you can see from the photos. But you judge for your self from the photos. The repaired corner is in the natural upper side if you want to use the speakers in an upright orientation. There is small less visible repair on the other speaker as you can also see in the photos. The grills have also been renewed with a smart new cloth and the one original badge has been polished up. SO these are now offered to a good home and have lots music to give you!
