Up for sale is a pair of vintage Acoustic Research AR58S large bookshelf speakers. Successor to the iconic AR3a. Freshly professionally re-foamed woofers. One midrange dome and one woofer dust cap have minor dimples, neither of which affects the sound. All drivers work great and the speakers sound excellent. As far as I know (I’m the second owner), the crossovers are original. I’ve decided to keep my completely refurbished AR3a’s so these need a new home. The bass response is excellent so I believe the cabinets are still air-tight- a little clear caulk or wood filler could be applied, if desired. The grilles are in excellent condition and the real walnut veneer is in very good shape- the visible scratches are exaggerated in the photos- I applied some Howard’s Restore-a-Finish 3-4 months ago.
