Many consider this speaker to be the best small bookshelf ever made. The Acoustic Research AR 4X is legendary for its big sound. This pair sounds as good as the day they were made. I have replaced the crossover capacitors with quality Dayton’s and bypassed the tweeter pot, which notorious for getting corroded and cutting off the tweeter signal. These are both modifications that are recommended to make this speaker perform to its full potential. Cabinets are in excellent condition and the original speaker grills are in fantastic condition and have replacement AR brass badges. Please see pics, you will receive exactly what is shown. One tweeter adjustment knob is missing, but this is nonfunctional with the tweeter pot bypassed. This pair has serial numbers that are close enough to qualify as a matched set. Cabinets have been lightly sanded and oiled and look great. They are just a couple of small nicks here in there, please see photos.
