For being 50 years old, these are one of the nicest pair I’ve personally seen, definitely the nicest pair I’ve owned. I got them from a widow, with some other hifi equipment a few months ago, re-foamed the woofers, cleaned them, and re-oiled the original walnut veneer cabinets with dark wood oil. They look outstanding, and they sound outstanding! All individual speakers/drivers are original and work as they should. They may have been recapped at some point, but I’m not sure, I didn’t open them up. The nice thing about the AR-2ax is that they share many of the same parts with the Flagship AR-3a speakers, sound almost as good, but are 1/3 – 1/2 the price of the AR-3a.
