BEAUTIFUL PAIR OF AR 90 SPEAKERS IN WALNUT VENEER. If you want an outstanding pair of AR’s upper end speakers, these might be for you. Currently in use in VINTAGE-AR OWNER’S PERSONAL HOME THEATER. Being replaced with AR 9LS’s. Completely restored several years ago and in frequent use by the owner of VINTAGE-AR PARTS & SERVICE. We are currently restoring a pair of AR 9LS’s which will take their place in an outstanding Home Theater. All drivers are original AR drivers, original to these cabinets. All drivers are in like new condition. All foam dispersion baffles are in like new condition. All surrounds, 4 woofers, 2 lower midranges, have been replaced with the correct foam surrounds and the voice coils centered in the process of replacing the surrounds. All crossovers test fine. All fabric on all six panels has been replaced with the correct black acoustic cloth. The cabinets were lightly sanded, new stain applied, new oil finish and then hand buffed. A few scratches remain on the tops as shown in the pics. All sides are near perfect. We have taken a complete set of pics of all sides with and without the grilles so you can judge the condition yourself. Serial numbers are #006310, 006321. Copies of the AR 90 Reference Manual and Color Brochure are included. According to AR: You can drive them to the highest volume and still get a smooth, tight bass. They have a separated acoustic suspension enclosure for increased control of the lower midrange. Vocals sound as good as the bass drum. They achieve clean high-frequency reproduction through two high dispersion drivers-an upper midrange dome and hemispheric dome tweeter. To achieve pinpoint stereo imaging, we designed the AR 9 and 90 with vertically arrayed drivers. You don’t have hot spots, cold spots or voices receding into the box. Just a strong, centered, real-life image. And a sound that was expressly created for the musical connoisseurs of this world. People who like their horns so brassy they can see them gleam. Their vocals so honest they can feel the singer’s breath. Their drum rolls so full that the energy seems to well up from the earth and shake the walls. A four way speaker system with an impressive -3db response 32Hz to 25kHz. Minimum power requirement is 15 watts per channel and can handle amplifiers up to 300 watts per channel. These are a 4 ohm system, check your amplifier capability. Yamaha makes some very nice Home Theater Receivers that easily handle these speakers at high volume. 44″ H x 15″ W x 16 D. I have listened to speakers spanning the full range of AR speaker models and the AR 9 Series are by far, my favorite. Yes, even over the famous AR-3a but then speaker appreciation is like that for fine wine, it’s all in the taste of the beholder. If you wanted to created an absolutely outstanding Home Theater System, use these as the front channels and a pair of smaller AR speakers such as the AR-2ax or even AR-4xa as the rears.
